In case you missed it, there was a White House wedding over the weekend. Naomi Biden, President Joe Biden’s eldest granddaughter, got married at the White House’s South Lawn on Saturday, November 19. Throughout the day, Naomi wore looks that were a little nod to her grandparents—only fitting given the wedding venue.
Naomi wore a long-sleeve gown with a lace overlay custom made by Ralph Lauren. Lauren is a go-to for politicians—President Biden wore a suit by the American fashion designer for his inauguration in 2021, and Hillary Clinton wore several pantsuits by Lauren during her 2016 presidential campaign. Naomi’s groom, Peter Neal, also wore Ralph Lauren. Per , the bride paired the gown with jewelry from Tiffany & Co.
The question is, how did Ralph Lauren have time to do all this after designing all three of Jennifer Lopez’s wedding gowns? We may never know.
For the reception, Naomi changed into a strapless ivory gown by one of her “Nana” Jill Biden’s favorite designers, NYC-based Alexandra O’Neill of Markarian, per On President Biden’s Inauguration Day, the first lady wore a custom blue Markarian coat dress.
At her rehearsal dinner on Friday, however, Naomi’s look was all her own. The first granddaughter, who interned at Tom Ford while in college, worked with bridal designer Danielle Frankel on a distinct look with four (!) parts, including a cape.
In an interview with , Frankel reflected on the importance of the rehearsal look: “It’s an introduction to the person wearing the outfit and reflects who she is,” she said. “It’s an elevated moment to have fun with because you’re not doing the actual ceremony; rather it’s a rehearsal. You can play with trends more and there’s a sense of ease and comfort because you’re not sitting in your wedding dress.”
Jill Biden shared a photo from Naomi’s wedding on her Instagram grid with the caption, “Congrats Naomi and Peter! We love you.”

“It has been a joy to watch Naomi grow, discover who she is, and carve out such an incredible life for herself,” the Bidens said in a statement. “Now, we are filled with pride to see her choose Peter as her husband and we’re honored to welcome him to our family. We wish them days full of laughter and a love that grows deeper with every passing year.”
Naomi is the first grandchild of a sitting president to get married on the White House grounds.
