Lizzo had the perfect reaction to seeing Kim Kardashian arrive at The Met Gala in Marilyn Monroe’s crystal-embellished dress.
The first Monday of May brought together celebrities and designers alike to celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, all dressed in their “Gilded Glamour” best. At this point we’re used to some celebs not taking the dress code seriously and showing up in whatever, but at least we can count on extravagant moments from the likes of Lizzo and Kim Kardashian.
While most of us were sitting at home judging from our couches, Lizzo experienced Kardashian’s vintage glamour moment in person as Kardashian pulled up to the Met. In a video shared on her Instagram Story, the “About Damn Time” singer stopped playing her flute—yeah, she brought her flute to the photo opp—to praise the Skims founder’s style.
“That’s Kim Kardashian, y’all. Fuck! She look good as fuck too,” said the Grammy-winning singer before moving up the steps.
We are all Lizzo reacting to Kim’s dress—minus the professional flute playing, of course.
Kardashian didn’t technically meet the “Gilded Glamour” theme, as her Jean-Louis vintage dress was from 1962, giving more Old Hollywood than Gilded Age, but it’s Kim Kardashian, so who cares. In an interview with , the 41-year-old shared that she wanted to wear the dress because it was the most American thing she could think of.
“Nowadays everyone wears sheer dresses, but back then that was not the case,” said Kardashian. “In a sense, it’s the original naked dress. That’s why it was so shocking.”
Both Lizzo and Kardashian showed up later in the evening for their red-carpet moments, closing out the parade of celebs and proving that Anna Wintour had saved the best for last.

Fitting the theme well, Lizzo wore a long corseted black dress by designer Thom Browne, with an oversized gold brocade jacket that was also floor length. And it was well worth the wait.
