Timberland launches spring/summer eyewear from bio-based materials

Its spring/summer 2022 collection bears the Earthkeepers mark, signifying that the product was designed from inception to reduce impact on the environment and integrates bio-based materials.
Over 60 percent of the new collection contains bio-based materials made from the oils of castor beans. On the inside temple, customers can find a precise amount of the bio-based composition, either 35 percent, 50 percent, 65 percent or 80 percent.
The castor oil plant is a renewable resource that replaces the petroleum-based oils typically found in eyewear frames. This innovative bio-based material accounts for up to 80 percent of the new frames, and provides a comfortable, soft touch for long-lasting wear.
The collection also carries the torch of Timberland’s Plant the Change
“We’re very proud of the new Timberland Eyewear collection as it demonstrates a responsibility to build a greener future through materials and transparent, on-the-ground projects,” said Molly Hyland, director, licensing, Timberland.
“Treedom is a unique organization and a great partner, as it connects people directly to the work in the field, offering the ability to watch a specific tree grow with the ultimate goal of providing jobs, clean air and unity.”
The collection features progressive looks in lightweight styles and modern colors. All of the sunglasses are polarized, with anti-reflective coating on select styles. Several models are available now and others rolling out this month. Styles are available at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon
