Jennifer Lopez Affleck hasn’t attended a Met Gala since 2021, when she was on the arm of her future hubs, Ben Affleck. A lot has happened since then—namely, J.Lo became Mrs. Bennifer after tying the knot last July in Las Vegas (and then again a month later in Georgia). This time, however, J.Lo attended the 2023 Met Gala solo, making it one of the first times she’s walked a carpet of any color without her man since she and Affleck got back together.
Lopez adhered to the evening’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” by stepping out in a stunning black and pink Ralph Lauren gown, which she accessorized with opera gloves, baby pink box clutch, and a veiled fascinator.
With or without the man who puts the “Ben” in “Bennifer,” Lopez knows how to make an entrance. Her sleek Met Gala dress combined a blush pink silk skirt with an inner-cleavage-revealing black velvet bodice. The gown was further adorned with a bit of feathered ornamentation at the neck and a giant black velvet bow at the back whose tails created a lengthy train. To say nothing of the lofty black mesh detail on the fascinator. So many details and embellishments and accessories in one look should be too much and yet, somehow, it isn’t.
Bennifer attended their first Met Gala together in 2021, the news of their rekindled romance fresh on everyone’s mind. Naturally, Lopez stole the show in a floor-length Ralph Lauren gown with a sexy thigh-length slit; the wide-brimmed hat she wore was another stylish addition to her collection (but does anything top the white cowboy hat in her Medicine music video‚? Affleck embodied the same energy in a classic black suit that would make Batman proud.
Since the 2022 nuptials, the couple have been living in wedded bliss and they are not afraid to show it—their matching tattoos say it all. Lopez loves showing off her man and it’s so sweet. Last month J.Lo hyped Affleck’s latest film, Air, by sharing the movie trailer to her Instagram and urging everyone to see it.
But as magical as their love story is, it’s still always nice to see Jennifer Lopez doing her own thing and thriving at it. (Ben Affleck would probably have just worn a boring suit anyway.)
