Biden warns of ‘consequences’ if Russia deploys chemical weapons in Ukraine

US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that there would be “consequences” if Russia deploys chemical weapons in Ukraine, following reports that Russian forces may be preparing to use such weapons amid signs of a stalemate on the battlefield.

Biden made the remarks during a meeting with NATO leaders in Brussels. He said that the use of chemical weapons would be a “significant escalation” and that the US and its allies would respond “accordingly.”
