8 Cool Girl-Approved Outfits to Wear to a Concert This Year

Of all the activities that get added to our calendars throughout the year, going to a concert is one of the absolute best. Whether it’s jazz on the square, a relaxed show at your favorite outdoor amphitheater, or your favorite pop star’s stadium tour (we’re counting down the days until Beyoncé and Taylor Swift), there’s just something about getting with your friends and seeing your favorite music on a hot summer night—but there’s always a little panic involved when trying to figure out what to actually wear to a concert.

My most recent concert was Harry Styles, and while it was truly a life-changing experience, I also realized I needed some serious outfit-spiration to figure out just what I was going to wear. I spent hours scrolling Pinterest and Instagram, looking for the perfect look that was going to say, “I’m just a cool, chill girl who might get invited backstage.”

It doesn’t matter if you’re heading to a country show, going to a music festival, or picnicking alongside live music in your local park—we know a concert outfit is important. So we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite concert outfits and done the shopping for you.

1. Overalls + a bra top

A post shared by Delaney (@delaneychilds)

Let the overalls do all the work for you at your next concert. They’re comfy, chic, and require little-to-no effort. Paired with a cheeky bralette, this look gives sexy and versatile at the same time. Not looking to show off too much skin? Try a mesh-long sleeve over your bralette for a little more coverage.

2. All black everything

When in doubt, wear all black. There’s something about an all-black outfit that truly makes me feel like I can conquer the world. It’s easy, looks cool, and is the perfect go-to for a concert (especially if you got a last-minute invite).

3. A moto jacket + mini skirt

A post shared by holly 🧚‍♂️ petite & midsize style (@imhollyfrances)

Though we’re all about maxi skirts right now, a mini skirt and a concert truly go hand in hand. (Pro tip: No one can tell that your mini skirt is actually a mini skort!). Combined with a leather moto jacket and knee-high boots, it’s a sexy, carefree look that’ll require that you get an OOTD pic at some point during the night.

4. Cargo pants + a crop top

A post shared by Tayla Santos | Casual Street Chic (@taylasnts)

Don’t want to deal with a clear bag? Cargo pants are the answer to your problems (there’s a pocket for every need!). Wearing trendy cargo in a practical, useful way? Unbeatable. Pair your pants with a tight, cropped top to contrast the oversized, bulky fit of the bottoms.

5. A black top + jean shorts + cowboy boots

These boots were made for walkin’. And dancing. And jumping. And scream-singing to your favorite song. Nothing pairs better with cowboy boots than a good ol’ fashion pair of denim cut-off shorts. Throw on your most trusted black bodysuit and you’re all set.

6. Metallic pants

Arguably the best pair of concert pants out there right now, metallic pants are a unique way to be the belle of the ball at any show this year. We can’t get enough of this look, and we know one thing’s for sure: The metallic trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

7. A corset top + baggy jeans

Tiny top, oversized pants. We can’t think of a better formula. Corset tops are flattering on absolutely everyone, and this outfit formula is 100% the concert uniform of the moment.

8. A classic band tee + fun pants

There’s no shame in wearing a One Direction tee to a Harry Styles show. Keep it classic at the concerts you’re going to this year and pair your band tees with an eye-catching pair of trousers or pants.
