Outerwear queen Anne Hathaway just brought the corset trend into 2023.
On January 21, Hathaway arrived at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of her upcoming movie Eileen dressed for the winter weather in Park City, Utah. The actor wore a black corset-inspired puffer coat from Versace’s fall-winter 2022 ready-to-wear collection with a pair of sheer black tights and chunky platform combat boots.
Vanity Fair’s Richard Lawson describes Hathaway’s character in Eileen as “a loose sophisticate, swanning into rooms and saying what she feels—and, it begins to seem, taking what she wants.” This look definitely aligns with that vibe.
Underneath the coat, Hathaway had on a textured Versace little black dress with sheer back panels. She wore her windswept hair down and kept her makeup warm with glowy skin, a subtle orange smoky eye, and rust-colored lips.
Earlier in the day Hathaway was spotted around Park City wearing a Celine plaid coat, thick black tights, and the same chunky boots. Frankly, this is the kind of edgy comfort aesthetic we’d expect from a true New Yorker like Anne Hathaway.
Hathaway is coming off a year of covetable-style moments, and it looks like she’s planning to continue the hot streak in 2023. Back in October, stylist Erin Walsh opened up about their “secret sauce” to British . “I think many kinds of styles of look work when you embrace your inner confidence to pull it off,” she said of the Devil Wears Prada star’s recent red-carpet upgrade. “Annie is literally glowing. That doesn’t just come from clothes. It comes through stepping into your potential and embracing possibility.”
She continued, “We have so much fun with fashion and aren’t afraid to experiment…. It’s about achieving that balance of effortless cool without rules–I call it ‘incidentally fabulous.’”
