Sophie Turner’s Summer Bridesmaid Outfit Incorporated the Ultimate Wedding Shoe

Sophie Turner is something of a poster girl for Nicolas Ghesquière’s futuristic vision of Louis Vuitton—see the leather minidress she layered over a pair of mesh floral leggings for the Academy Museum Gala, or her red satin gladiator footwear at Paris Fashion Week—but to serve as a bridesmaid this summer, the 27-year-old actor turned to some timeless fashion classics.

As a member of her friend Holly Soame’s 11-strong bridal party, the newly blonde Game of Thrones alum wore a kitten-heel mule by Manolo Blahnik, perhaps the luxury shoe label most closely associated with a fairytale wedding scenario. Who could forget the blue Hangisi heel that Carrie Bradshaw wore in the Sex and the City movie? Sure, she was jilted before she could walk down the makeshift aisle at the New York Public Library in her crystal-embellished stilettos, but the scene still inspired countless real-life brides to opt for a Manolo shoe as their “something blue” on their big day.

The makers of House of Gucci were sufficiently persuaded to play fast and loose with facts when dressing Lady Gaga’s Patrizia Reggiani for her wedding in the film. The Hangisi wasn’t created until 35 years after Patrizia and Maurizio Reggiani exchanged vows in real life, but that didn’t stop them from putting Gaga in an ivory pair for the silver screen recreation. British Vogue’s own Julia Brenard, meanwhile, chose Manolo’s Lurum heels for her wedding reception, then enlisted The Restory to dye the white satin black to make the shoes wearable well beyond her wedding day.

As a bridesmaid, Sophie Turner chose Manolo’s more understated Maysale mule in a neutral taupe, the perfect addition to her mint green Norma Kamali Diana dress—another style classic that fashion girls have been snapping up since the 1970s. You can see photos here.
